Inspired by the classic French Quarter of New Orleans, Mardi Gras never ends at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, the sister resort to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. Throughout this resort hotel are stunning landscapes and architecture that are brought to life with whimsical Mardi Gras touches. The main building of this resort is designed after a turn of the century mint. The Mint’s vaulted ceiling, exposed bricks, fountain, benches and extensive windows will enchant guests at first glance. Guests can check in at desks that look like bank-teller windows or visit the food court, gift shop, or arcade. Sidewalks of this resort hotel are accented with cobblestone and lined with beautiful old fashioned street lamps. Guests rooms are located in three story buildings with lacy wrought-iron balconies and mansard roofs. Inside, rooms are decorated with rich wooden furniture and fabrics are in muted Mardi Gras purples, greens and golds. Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter can sleep up to four guests.
The Mardi Gras party is very much alive at the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, which is located in The Mint building. This food court offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with traditional American fare and Creole flavors. If you love jazz music head over to Scat Cat’s Club where there is a full service bar and live jazz music on select nights.
Those looking for a swim will be delighted with the fun Mardi Gras at the Doubloon Lagoon. Jazz playing alligators keep watch over the pool where you’ll also find a playful giant sea serpent ridden by King Neptune. Stairs lead up the creature’s scaly back and his giant pink tongue provides a wonderful water slide into the pool. A variety of specialty drinks are available at Mardi Grogs bar, just steps away from the pool.
Guests of Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter guests may take a stroll down to Port Orleans – Riverside to enjoy the pools, dining and recreation of the sister resort.
